WHAT: Havana Central is hosting its first-ever Valentines Day Cocktail Challenge! Mixologists and amateur cocktail enthusiasts are invited to submit original recipes highlighting aphrodisiac ingredients mixed with lead spirit, BACARDI® Rum. The Havana Central Love Potion cocktail will be judged for appearance, creativity, taste, and overall delivery. The winning cocktail will be featured at all three Havana Central restaurants during the month of February, to spice up love lives of sexy New Yorkers. Submit your unique cocktail recipe to LovePotion@havanacentral.com by deadline: February 5, 2010.
The winner will be selected from five finalists by pioneering master mixologist Dale Degroff. Prizes include $250 Cash, a cocktail showcase on Havana Central menus with winners name, publicity, and a plaque commemorating the cocktail.

Official Rules of the 2010 New York Cocktail Challenge
1) Eligibility: NO PURCHASE OR ENTRY FEE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THE COCKTAIL CHALLENGE (the Competition). Only legal residents of the United States who are twenty-one (21) years of age and older are eligible to enter the Competition. By entering this Competition, you are affirming that you are twenty-one (21) years of age or older. This Competition is open only to New York Tri-State Area residents. Void where prohibited by law. Finalists must be available at Havana Central's Times Square location, located at 151 W.46th ST, between 6th & 7th Ave., New York, New York, Tuesday February 9, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm EST (the Judging Event), to prepare and present their cocktail to the judge, in order to be eligible to win the Grand Prize. Officers, employees and representatives of BACARDI® USA (the Sponsor), Havana Central, Colangelo & Partners Public Relations, beverage alcohol license owners, suppliers, distributors or retailers, their affiliates and subsidiaries, advertising or promotional agencies, or any other persons or entities directly associated with this Competition, and immediate family members and/or members of the same household as such persons, are not eligible to enter this Competition.
2) To Enter: The Competition begins at 12:01 AM EST on January 4, 2010, and all entries must be received no later than February 5, 2010, at 11:59 pm EST (the Entry Period). Entrants must create an original cocktail recipe including BACARDI® as the main spirit used in the cocktail. To enter the Competition, all entries must be submitted by email addressed to LovePotion@havanacentral.com by the end of the Entry Period, and must include each entrants full name, date of birth, address, phone number, email address and an original cocktail recipe. The cocktail recipe must include the name of the cocktail, ingredients, method of preparation, glassware and garnishments/ice (if any). The cocktail must be able to be prepared within five (5) minutes using standard bar equipment (as determined by the contest judge). All entries must include all of the foregoing information; any incomplete entries may be disregarded, at the discretion of the Sponsor and its agents. All entries become the exclusive property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged. Limited to one (1) entry per person and one (1) cocktail per entry. Other spirits can be secondary ingredients as long as the Bacardi® Rum is the primary spirit in the recipe.
3) Prizes: One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded consisting of $250 Cash. In addition, the winning cocktail will be featured at all three Havana Central locations from February 10 through 28, 2010. Prizes are non-transferable and non-redeemable for cash, and may not be substituted except by the Sponsor and Havana Central, in their sole discretion. Neither the Sponsor nor Havana Central is responsible for a lost or stolen prize once it is awarded.
4) Winner Selection: The sponsor and its judge will select up to five (5) finalists from all entries received. Finalists will be selected ad notified on or about February 7, 2010 from all eligible entries received. Up to five (5) finalists will be invited to attend the Judging Event. Finalists must attend the Judging Event and prepare and present their original cocktail to the judge in order to win. The Sponsor and its judge will select the winning cocktail during the Judging Event from the cocktails submitted by the finalists attending the Judging Event based on the creativity, taste, name, appearance and overall impression of such cocktails, as determined by the Sponsor and the judge in their sole discretion. All such cocktails must comply with the rules of the Competition. All decisions of the Sponsor and the judge selected by the Sponsor are final. Each finalist must provide his/her own transportation to and accommodations for the Judging Event. If a finalist cannot be contacted, an alternate finalist will be selected, at the Sponsors sole discretion. If a finalist is not present at the Judging Event at the time of the selection of the Grand Prize winner and his or her cocktail has been selected as the Grand Prize winner, an alternate winner will be selected at the Sponsors sole discretion. Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received.
5) Right to Publicity: By entering this Competition, all entrants expressly consent to the commercial and/or non-commercial publication, broadcast and/or transmission of his/her name, address (city and state only), likeness and/or voice and any and all photographs, interviews, recordings, video images, film and/or audio recordings of and/or containing same submitted to or taken by the Sponsor, Havana Central, BACARDI® USA and/or Colangelo & Partners Public Relations (collectively, the Contest Entities) and/or their invitees (the Contest Media; the Contest Entities and the Contest Media shall be collectively referred to herein as the Contest Rights Holders) in connection with the Judging Event. All entrants further understand that by entering the Competition they are relinquishing all their rights to such photographs, interviews, recordings, video images, film and/or audio recordings and to any future compensation for publication in and through any media format of same now known or hereafter developed. Entrants understand that the Contest Rights Holders will treat such property as the sole owner thereof, with their rights including but not limited to publication on or in magazines, journals, newsletters, newspapers, E-mail, Internet, World Wide Web, and any other possible forms of publication. Entrants understand and agree that by entering this Competition they are transferring to the Contest Rights Holders rights, if any, to copyright any photographs, interviews, recordings, video images, film and/or audio recordings submitted to or taken by the Contest Rights Holders. Each entrant hereby releases and forever discharges the Contest Rights Holders and all related agents, servants, employees, volunteers, board members, and any and all persons liable or who might be claimed to be liable, whether or not herein named, from any and all liability for the ownership, use and publication of such photographs, interviews, recordings, video images, film and/or audio recordings in any and all media.
6) Copyright: By entering this Competition, each entrant confirms and agrees to the following: (i) that the cocktail recipe submitted to the Competition is an original recipe created solely by the entrant and that he/she is the sole owner of any and all rights in and to the cocktail recipe and the chosen name of the cocktail; (ii) that the entered cocktail recipe, the name of the cocktail and the recipe may be featured in the Judging Event and any and all advertising, marketing and/or promotion thereof in any form and media; (iii) that each entrant hereby irrevocably grants the Contest Entities the non-exclusive perpetual right to utilize the cocktail with or without the name of the cocktail and the recipe of the cocktail in any way, manner or form, including without limitation the right to prepare, serve, market, promote and sell the cocktail, to publish the recipe, and to include images of the cocktail in any and all media; (iv) that each entrant hereby irrevocably grants the Contest Rights Holders the non-exclusive perpetual right to reproduce images of said cocktail with or without the name of said cocktail and the recipe thereof in any and all print, electronic and/or other media in promoting, publicizing and/or covering the Judging Event; and (v) while Havana Central, as the host of the Competition, intends to feature the winning cocktail between February 10th through 28th, 2010, each entrant agrees that Havana Central and the remaining Contest Entities shall be held harmless from any failure to do so.
7) Release: By entering this Competition, each entrant expressly agrees to release, discharge and hold harmless the Contest Entities, their respective shareholders, officers, employees, affiliates, subsidiaries, distributors, retailers and agents from any and all injuries, liability, losses, damages, claims and actions of any kind resulting from and/or arising out of his/her participation in the Competition, his/her participation in the Judging Event and/or his/her acceptance, possession, receipt, ownership, use or misuse of a prize, or any combination thereof, including, without limitation, liability for personal injury, death and/or property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, copyright, trademark, defamation or invasion of privacy. In addition, by entering this Competition, each entrant expressly agrees that the Contest Entities are not responsible for and shall not be liable for electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind, including without limitation, server malfunction or by any human error which may occur in the processing of entries; failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions; or any condition caused by events beyond the control of the Contest Entities that may cause the Competition to be disrupted or corrupted.
8) General Conditions: All federal, state and local laws and regulations are applicable. All taxes and fees are the sole responsibility of winner. Finalists and Grand Prize winners may, at Sponsors sole discretion, be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release and a Publicity Release, which must be returned prior to the commencement of the Judging Event, or as otherwise requested by the Sponsor. Finalists and prize winners will also be required to send a copy of their passport, drivers license or other valid identification acceptable to the Sponsor, in its sole discretion, as proof of age. Non-compliance may result in disqualification. Return of notification, prize, or prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification. All entrants agree to comply with these Official Rules, including the Summary of Rules and Eligibility above. All interpretations of these Official Rules and the Summary of Rules and Eligibility and decisions made by the Contest Entities and their agents in connection with this Competition are final, and each entrant agrees to abide by such interpretations and decisions. Any attempt by a person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of this Competition is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Contest Entities reserve the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. The New York Courts (state and federal) located in New York County, in the State of New York, shall have sole jurisdiction of any controversies regarding this Competition, and the laws of the State of New York, without reference to its principles of conflicts of law, shall govern the Competition. Each entrant waives any and all objections to jurisdiction and venue in those courts and hereby submits to the jurisdiction of those courts. The Sponsor, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to cancel or suspend this Competition for any reason at any time without liability.
9) Disclaimers: The Contest Entities are not responsible for any entries that are late, undelivered, tampered with, garbled, incomplete, misdirected, lost, mutilated, delayed, illegible, corrupted, mechanically duplicated, not received by Sponsor, or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules. Except where prohibited, all entrants waive all rights and remedies at law or in equity for any claim they may have relating to this Competition. The Contest Entities and all related parties make no warranty, either express or implied, regarding the use or enjoyment of any prize.
10) Winners List/Official Rules: To obtain a copy of the winner list or these Official Rules, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope within sixty (60) days following the end of the Entry Period to the Contest Administrator at the below address.
